Alexandra began singing at an early age...she remembers sitting in front of her parents high-if system religiously every Sunday evening, recording her favourite songs from the UK Top 40. 'Apparently, I was a whiz with the nursery rhymes too'...Alexandra's Mum recalls how many a mother on the school run was astounded at the voice from the next pram, which appeared advanced beyond its years.

Alexandra perused music through classical piano lessons...'we always had a piano at home, a tradition which stemmed from my Mum's family...in fact such was the prestige of a piano in those days, that my Dad once said that he only married my Mum for her piano!' Music was in abundance in Liverpool in the 1960's...'My Grandfather was a big-band drummer and 2 of my Uncles sang. In fact, I have tapes of my Uncle singing and the voice is quite simply exquisite.'

At the age of 17, Alexandra bought an acoustic guitar...'It was the song 'More Than Words', by Extreme which inspired me to learn to play and I spent many an evening strumming and singing soft rock ballads. My friend Liz always took the low harmony and I took the higher one and sooner or later we got our chance to shine in the college showcase.'

Alexandra is also a gifted and talented dancer...'I began dancing at the age of 11 and have never really stopped since.' Dance training certainly gave Alexandra a taste for performance and the opportunity to develop a beautiful stage presence. 'I have learned so much about performance through dance and I am ever grateful to my early dance school, The Broomfield Academy, for providing such professional training.'

Such was Alexandra's ability for music and dance, her skills won her work abroad as a singer/dancer for Airtours, who quickly promoted her to lead singer in their Sunwing show team. She worked for three years in the Balearics, mainland Spain and the Canaries, entertaining audiences with her expressive vocal style and bewitching stage presence. 'The summer season work was tough, we worked 6 days and nights per week, performing to audiences of over 2000 people, often performing 2 shows per night, but the experience was amazing. We were ranked the top entertainments team for the whole of Airtours, and we were blessed with a fabulous venue in the form of an outdoor big top tent.'

Returning to England in 2000, Alexandra established herself as a solo vocalist, initially dipping her toes into cabaret, but soon side-stepping into jazz. She surrounded herself with some of the finest jazz players in the North West, forming a close working partnership with the jazz genius, Vinny Parker. 'Vinny is widely regarded as one of the finest jazz pianists in the North West. He has played with many of the greats and has so much experience that working with him is like a jazz lesson in itself.'
Continuing her professional development throughout, Alexandra took an MA in Music Performance at Salford University, graduating with distinction in Summer 2004. She was also awarded the 'James Morrison Jazz Masters Award' in recognition of her outstanding ability. During this period, she perused her own writing interests, contributing original material to a Latin Jazz Album and singing an original theme tune for Granada.

Alexandra recorded her first solo album of standards 'Round Midnight' with her quintet in 2005. The CD received favourable reviews and secured appearances on the Northwest Jazz circuit as well as at Wigan, Morecambe, Lancaster and Keswick Jazz Festival. Alexandra’s next step on her musical journey saw her returning once more to songwriting, ‘I began writing songs during 6th form, usually on guitar and wrote a huge amount of poetry too, but l really needed a writing partner to help me get the sound I was looking for.’ Tim Franks suggested guitarist Mark Townson and the two began working on fusing the soulful elements of blues and folk with the intricate harmonies and subtleties of jazz. After composing four songs, the rest of the band were invited to weave their magic on the tunes and another five songs and a year later, ‘Coming Home’ is born.

Alexandra and Mark have created a body of original material which captures the essence of the ‘golden era’ of jazz, blues and swing, something which few contemporary artists appear to be doing at the moment. Strong melodies performed with a rare intimacy of musicianship and purity of tone defines this album, an album which is set to pass the old grey whistle test!
